In addition to the inoculation of several tubes of the broth from each frog, I have always made several microscopic smear preparations from the blood, spleen, etc. in order to determine with some degree of accuracy the particular blood parasites present. Many frogs harbour Dactylosoma, Haemogregarina, and trypanosomata. Others show the parasites singly and this is borne out by the results of cultivation. Single species of parasites in frogs are rare, and involves the examination of a large number of animals.
